The World

A sign for the fictional slave market HCI, Inc. in Houston, Texas

Sometimes called the “Slave grading” universe, the world I write in was pioneered by myself and a few other writers (including Joe Doe Stories, monkey man66, Carl Bradford and MrSmith) on free erotica forums like Literotica. I believe the original “legalized slavery” stories were written by Katie Smith for her character Tracey.

I can really only speak to my version of this world: following a series of disasters (including a war that killed off a significant portion of the male population), the world in general and the United States of America in particular teetered on the brink of an economic depression. One solution pushed by the wealthy and their corporations was the revival of legalized chattel slavery.

Unlike the 19th century version, those enslaved either committed crimes, failed to repay debts, or were impoverished and desperate enough to sell the most valuable thing they own – their freedom.

Most slaves are technically “indentured,” meaning that their servitude is limited in length of time, but otherwise there is no real distinction between a slave and an indenture or “dent.”

To me, the most interesting thing about the world is how society adapts to this new reality: technologies that did not exist in the Antebellum South, powerful corporations who reap profits while disregarding the costs, and the evolution of what it means to be a citizen and a human being.
